Daily Routines Drop off Schools doors open at 8:45 and close at 8:55 prompt, as lessons start at 9:00. If you arrive at school after 8:55 then please report to the school office. This is in line with the school safeguarding policy. Collection 3D collected from their classroom door and 3T from side door near Mrs Wild’s office. Physical Education PE day is Wednesday, so children will need to have full kits. Kits can be taken home termly. Snack Toast and milk - Drop off and collection arrangements PE - Toast and Milk

Class Rules In Year Three we try hard to follow our golden rules in line with the school policy: Our Golden Rules Do be gentle, don’t hurt anyone. Do be kind and helpful, don’t hurt people’s feelings. Do look after property, don’t waste or damage things. Do listen to people, don’t interrupt. Do be honest, don’t cover up the truth. Do work hard, don’t waste time. We have created our own class rules using this policy and they can be seen in our classrooms

We are always looking to praise the children for hard work and having a positive attitude. Children always have the chance to make the right decision.

Mastery Curriculum

involves following instructions. Apprentice Master Expert Completed independently – involves non-routine, interconnected, multi-step thinking in problems with more than one possible solution. Can be completed with independence – involves some degree of decision making application. Scaffolded by adult - involves following instructions.

Medium Term Overview

Reading At home Please bring book bags daily. Please sign the reading diary to show that your child has read – a quick ‘book read’ or ‘read to p.7’ is fine. Question your child about what they have read. In school Guided reading Cracking comprehension

Guided Reading Monday Teacher led class read and answering questions about the text Tuesday and Wednesday Teacher and Teaching Assistant reading with an individual group, whilst the other groups will be silent reading to build up stamina. Friday Teacher led Cracking Comprehension session.

Reading Questions

Importance of reading daily… Access to increased vocabulary – helps writing. Develop understanding and comprehension of texts. Visual recognition of words – proofreading own writing, editing work, spelling words. Increased stamina when reading independently. Maths – Being able to independently read word problems.

Writing Genres - children will experience a variety of genres e.g. persuasive writing, adventure stories, report writing, poetry, newspaper articles, non - chronological reports. In order for the children to understand the structure of said texts, class novels and home reading books at an appropriate level will help further children’s understanding.

Marking & Feedback Policy Review in Spring 2017 Revolved around the importance of instant marking and feedback. Children found verbal feedback most valuable over extensive written comments. Add a piece of writing including new approach

Homework Reading for at least 10 minutes each night. Homework books – Given out on Wednesday, returned by Monday. Medicines We can administer prescription medicines that are required for more than 3 times a day, on some occasions we will administer medicines that are required 3 times a day – you will need to complete a form at the office If your child is too unwell for school, please telephone (not email or text as these are not monitored) the school office before 9am as any unexplained absence will be followed up by the school office 48 hour sickness / diarrhoea rule Please update your class teachers on any medical issues (i.e. asthma etc.) Individual Health Care Plans will be drawn up between parents and school for a child with any significant medical needs
