Why are we meeting? General introduction for the beginning of the school year and Autumn term. Important information for the rest of the school year. Any questions you may have

The Form 4 Curriculum Core Subjects: English Mathematics Science ICT

The Year 4 Curriculum History Geography PE – taught by specialist PE coaches Art & DT

This Year's Topics Autumn Term Cross curricular project: Anglo-Saxons and The Vikings Form Four will explore the Anglo-Saxon timeline and the Viking invasion and settlement in Britain. Through discussion, the children will understand the terms ‘invaders’ and ‘settlers’ and discuss motivations for emigration and gain historical insight into the lives of Anglo-Saxon and British people. Form Four will have the opportunity to design settlements, make buildings, dye wool, weave material, research food and cook recipes, play and create board games. We will investigate questions such as Where did the Vikings come from? Where did they invade and settle? Why did they leave Scandinavia? How do we know about them?

Maths: Place value and money, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, shape, data and measurements. English: Horrid Henry by Francesca Simon, Beowulf by Rob Lloyd Jones (Linked to project) and How to Train Your Dragon by Cressida Cowell (Linked to project). Science: The Human Body R.E: Islam

Class Rules Golden Rules We walk silently around the school We don’t run We listen to all adults. We don’t interrupt We are kind and helpful We don’t hurt others feelings We are gentle We don’t hurt others We are honest We don’t cover up the truth We work hard We don’t waste our own or others time We know how to keep ourselves and others safe We do not bully or put ourselves in unsafe situations We look after property We don’t waste or damage things

Uniform School uniform must be worn at all times. Please label ALL of your child’s clothes – laundry markers are best! Please check leaflet for more details.

PE Form 4 - PE will be on a Friday– please ensure children have their PE kits with them on this day.

Swimming Form 4 - Every Wednesday they will need their swimming kit and towel.

Mornings Children line up when the bell goes at 8.55am. If you need to look for lost property, it’s best to do this at the end of the day. It is important that your child is on time so they have the best possible start to their day. Miss Ahmed comes down to the playground with the children if you need to have a quick word. Please call the school or tell the teacher in the morning if someone else is coming to collect your child.

Homework Maths and English homework will be given out on Friday (to be returned the following Wednesday). Weekly spellings will also be given out for the children to learn on for the test on Thursday and Friday. The homework is normally a follow up of something they have done in class and so should be suitably challenging for your child. If it is too difficult or they are spending longer than half an hour doing it, please write a note to that effect in their homework book. Children are expected to read at home every evening.

Healthy Lunches Children bringing a packed lunch to school should bring a healthy selection of food. No sweets No chocolate No nuts

School Trips Trips are often arranged in connection with what ever the children are learning about. Occasionally (but rarely!) a contribution is required, without these contributions the trip can not take place. Please ensure that you return the permission slips at the bottom of the letters – otherwise your child will not be able to go. Children always wear their school uniform on trips.

Queries Should you wish to speak to Miss Ahmed please email to make an appointment. In the morning please let us know if anyone else will be collecting your child – unless you have told us directly, we can not let your child go. If your child needs to take medicine during the day it must be taken to the office and a permission slip completed.

Chapel As usual, you are more than welcome to join us for the Friday morning chapel service. Service starts at 9.15 and normally ends at 9.45 am.

Does anyone have any questions?
