WARTS! by skyler hortop

How do you get warts? Human Papillomavirus HPV

Types of Warts Common warts Plantar warts Flat warts Genital warts

Common Warts Common warts appear mainly on the hands. Subungual warts appear around/under the nails, they are harder to cure Flesh colored, raised from the surface and covered with hornlike projections

Plantar warts occur on the bottom of the foot High-pressure areas such as the heel or metatarsal head, area behind/under toes Grow into the skin, not outward, this makes them more difficult to treat

Flat Warts commonly seen on the face, forehead, or back of the hands small individual bumps and spread rapidly

Genital warts on the genitals, pubic area, rectum, or between the thighs

Symptoms Small, hard, raised or flat lesion or lump Small, smooth lesions on face, hands, arms, legs Rough growths around nails Rough, round lesions on soles of feet

Treatment Cantharidin Home remedies- Compound W- freezes the wart, causing a blister to form underneath to fall off Many have salicylic acid involved Cantharidin

Treatments Cryotherapy Cantharidin Electrosurgery Laser Removal Curettage- cutting off wart with a sharp knife Electrosurgery- burning the wart with an electrical current. Cryoptherapy- liquid nitrogen is sprayed onto the affected area, A blister may form beneath the treated area, which helps to lift the lesion off the skin Cantharidin-An acid taken out of a beetle, this acid forms a local epidermal tissue reaction that is intense and produces a blister formation Others include- chemical peels, liquid nitrogen Electrosurgery Laser Removal

In the Future! Cover up warts with socks or gloves! Wear flip flops in public areas! Do not share towels!
