Environmental law is perceived as one of the most important tools of environmental management. Until very recently, it was a part of various civil and criminal laws specifying rights of individuals groups of people and the state over the nature (land, water, air, plants, wildlife, etc.) It is an essential tool for the governance and management of the environment and natural resources. It is the foundation of national and regional policies and actions to ensure that the use of natural resources is done equitably and sustain ably.

I am strongly of the view that there is an urgent need to strengthen the capacity of judges, prosecutors, legislators and all persons who play a critical role at national level in the process of implementation, development and enforcement of environmental law, including multilateral environmental agreements, especially through the judicial process. All of us must realise the importance of the environment and save the world from a disaster.
