Spelling Sort 15 Adding the Suffix -ity

Adding –ity to words ending in al The suffix –ity means “state” or “quality” Adding –ity changes an adjective to a noun. When –ity is added the vowel sound in the final syllable changes. Example: moral and morality

Individual and Individuality single; particular; separate There is only one individual apple that stands out from the rest.

General and Generality not specific or definite This book contains general knowledge in all different categories.
