Administering Tests At least 2 adults will be in the test room. Arrangements will be in place if a child is ill or needs to be removed from the room . The chair of governors (Penny) will be carrying out observations during the test week. Other observers may also attend. We may also be subject to a monitoring visit from Brent or the STA.

SATs Arrangements Children who will have additional time in the side room must wait in their classrooms until the tests have been delivered. 5 children have additional time and their parents will be informed individually.

Reading English Reading Test: Only the general instructions can be read in this test. No other part of the test can be read. Children have 1 hour to complete. Grammar, spelling and punctuation: Questions may be read but not re- phrased or explained, e.g. you are not allowed to give alternative explanations such as ‘speech marks instead of inverted commas.’ Test lasts 45 minutes.

Numeracy Maths: Questions may be read but not re-phrased or explained. There are two arithmetic papers, each one is 40 minutes long. While the mental arithmetic paper is 30 minutes long.

Dealing with Issues A test will be stopped if: Test papers are wrongly collated or illegible. An incorrect test has been administered. A fire alarm goes off. A child is unwell. A pupil is caught cheating.

A Pupil Needs a Rest Break All pupils will be supervised at all times. If a child needs to leave the room, the administrator will make a note of the time. The child will be accompanied by an administrator if they leave the room. The child will be able to continue with the test with the correct amount of time when they return.

If a Pupil is Caught Cheating. Details of the incident will be record, including the child’s name, the name of the test and any specific questions in which the child was advantaged by cheating. The child will be moved to another room for the remainder of the test. A notification form will be submit if we believe that child has gained an advantage. By doing this, that child’s marks will either be removed for that specific question or the child’s results will be annulled.

Equipment the school will provide are: blue/black pens, pencils, pencil sharpeners and rubbers (optional) rulers (showing centimetres and millimetres) angle measurers or protractors mirrors Every room where the tests will take place should have a clock visible to help pupils pace themselves.

Parents are asked: To provide their child with a water bottle for each day of the SATs. Make sure that their child in is school on time each day e.g. 8.50 am That their child attends each of the four days and is not ill.

After the tests Test scripts will be collected by the administrator straight after the test has been completed. At least 2 members of SLT will pack the tests for collection. All papers, including unused papers will be kept secure until Friday 19th May 2017 Teachers and anybody involved in the administration of the tests will not discuss the content of the test papers with anyone. In particular, specific content that could compromise the test must not be discussed on social media.
