2017 Testing Written papers to reflect the content and aims of the 2014 curriculum within: Reading Grammar and punctuation Spelling Mathematics Writing is teacher assessed and externally moderated.
Content of 2017 Tests Material is only selected and assessed from the KS2 programmes of study Demand on how the content is used and applied assesses the level of performance for each child. Higher achievers require a deeper working understanding of the curriculum content.
Mathematics Paper 1 Arithmetic Purpose: Assess the procedural fluency of children’s calculation skills. Paper 2 and 3 Reasoning Assess children’s ability to use and apply mathematical ideas in a range of contexts and varying complexities.

Test Format
Reading Test presumes a fluency in decoding at KS2. Ability to read 1500 – 2300 words in 15 mins Assesses children’s ability to gain a deep understanding of texts and consider critically the choices made by authors. Surface level retrieval intelligent inference
Test Format 1 paper consisting of a range of texts and a question booklet. Range of skills assessed through the depth of understanding of what they’ve read and the complexity / abstractness of the target information.
