Researching Careers For Students: I am going to give you an example of ways to research careers using Navigator.
Searching for a Career based on what I like Career Interest Assessment Results Teacher: Because you will not know if all students have taken an assessment, search by 16 Career Clusters & Pathways for this lesson. If you use the Title Search, you will not be able to see what pathways there are in your content areas.
Assessment Results Career Interest Assessment Teacher: The right hand side of the screen contains a widget that will give students a list of occupations suggested by their assessment results.
Health Science Pathways Teacher: Students will select the cluster, then pathway. I have chosen the Health Science Cluster and Health Informatics for my pathway.
Once a student sees the pathways, for example Health Informatics Pathways can show them what career choices they have with a high school completion, Associates, Four Year, and beyond. Here is an example: Students will be able to look at their options post secondary.
VOCABULARY Associates DEGREE or certificate: a degree or certificate awarded by community colleges, junior colleges, technical colleges, or universities upon completion of a program of study usually lasting two years. Bachelors (four-year) degree: A degree awarded by a university in a program of study usually taking four to five years to complete. (These are earned and not given!!)
Summary Tab Teacher: Students will then be able to view a summary of the occupation or career that they have selected.
Select and save a Career Teacher: At this point when the student reaches their desired career that they are going to research, have them save. So that they can refer back to it in their favorites.
Summary Tab scroll down for median salary
Summary Information Page Once again, when they click on the career, the summary information will come up.
