Tuesdays with Morrie Exploring a related topic, Lou Gehrig’s Disease, and Aphorisms to enhance our understanding.

Objectives We will use online databases, websites and print resources to locate information about Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS) and aphorisms, as related in Tuesdays with Morrie. We will create a Google site that features text and illustrations and explains the connections of aphorisms (that appear in the text) and ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) to the story. We will create an aphorism that relates to our own personal story, explain it’s significance to us and include a visual model that represents our aphorism.

(Warm-up) (Present this on Day 1 and 2) An aphorism is a simple statement of truth, opinion or principle. While you watch the video, listen for an aphorism. Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die tomorrow----James Dean, Actor The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them --Mark Twain, author - See more at: http://www.aphorismexamples.com/#sthash.upyUJfjo.dpuf

Warm-up (Day 1) View the Spiderman video clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGMF_YZF254 1. Write down the aphorism that you heard in the video. 2. Explain what this aphorism means to you?

Warm-up Day 2 Today we’re going to watch a movie trailer for a movie adaptation of Tuesdays with Morrie. 1. While you watch the clip, search an aphorisms that you think is most important. Why is this aphorism more meaning to you than the others?

Aphorisms Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die tomorrow. James Dean, Actor (He died at the age of 25) The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man who cannot read them. - Mark Twain - See more at: http://www.aphorismexamples.com/#sthash.upyUJfjo.dpuf
