“Staying Connected When Emotions Run High” Facilitators: Dr Annemaree Bickerton (Child, Adolescent and Family Psychiatrist) and Toni Garretty (Team/Clinical Coordinator Family & Carer MH Program ISLHD) An Introductory Workshop for Professionals “Staying Connected When Emotions Run High” Photo supplied by: Stonemeadow Photography This workshop is based on the highly successful intervention for families and carers and introduce professionals to the “Staying Connected When Emotions Run High” frameworks. This training will be beneficial to Adult Mental Health Clinicians, CAMHS staff, school counsellors and teachers, government and community stakeholders working directly with clients (aged 12yrs – 100yrs) and their families. Learning outcomes include: Increased understanding of emotion dysregulation Identify the ‘four carer dances’ and their role in emotion dysregulation Knowledge of the ‘five key relationship strategies’ in order to become a helpful resource to someone in distress Understanding of relationships and triangles – Karpmann's model Introducing the concept of Safety Planning “Like a Fire Drill” to promote safety when distress or risk escalates Date: Friday 17 March 2017 Time: 8.30am – 3.30pm (Registration from 8.00am) Morning tea and lunch will be provided. Venue: Lecture Theatre, Level 4, Mental Health Administration Building, The Mater Campus Edith Street Waratah. Workbook and certificate of attendance will be provided. RSVP: Registration essential as places are limited. Please register and advise dietary requirements with CAMHS Management Secretary by emailing HNELHD-CAMHSExec@hnehealth.nsw.gov.au.
