WinGRSS Activities 3/4 Travel Support to attend the IEEE WIE International Leadership Conference (1 GRSS member in 2014, 2015, & 2016)  Theme: Lead Beyond: Accelerating Innovative Women Who Change the World. Sessions at the conference will be focused on leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship

WinGRSS Activities 4/4 Increasing opportunities for Women in GRSS activities Develop and maintain a contact database for Women in GRSS. Develop a mentoring program. Increase female presenters, session chairs, invited speakers, conference and publication reviewers, representation technical committees, attendees at IEEE Leadership activities Promote/Encourage senior memberships, award nominations for women candidates and associate editors Promote the publication of journal articles by female GRSS members Brand WinGRSS (logo, pins, badge flags, etc) Encourage joint WIE+GRSS chapter meetings 

On April 8th, 2016, the North Carolina State University (NCSU) Women in Engineering (WIE) Student Chapter and the Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) IEEE-Geoscience & Remote Sensing Society (IEEE-GRSS) Student Chapter held a joint meeting on the campus of North Carolina State University. Co-funded by a mini-grant to GRSS NENC Chapter and the DL Program. The program was part of the Distinguished Lecture Series featuring Dr. Melba Crawford, Associate Dean of Engineering for Research, Purdue University who's presentation was titled: "Hyperspectral Remotely Sensed Data: Opportunities and Challenges."

Charge to Chapter Chairs Encourage your (female and male) members to attend the Women’s Luncheon at IGARSS. Suggest items for the Women in Geoscience and Remote Sensing GRS Magazine column (e.g., guest editors from your chapter, spotlight on a female member in your chapter, other topics). Nominate or encourage your female members to apply for travel support for attending the WIE International Leadership Conference in San Jose, CA (May 2017). Nomination information is on GRSS webpage. If you are interested in organizing a joint GRSS-WIE meeting in your region, please let us know.
