Short Term Trips Offered by COB since 2012 Part of COB’s “Globalizing Business School” initiative, COB trips are supported by funding from Indiana University Center for International Business Education and Research (IU CIBER) Trip to China in summer 2012 Trip to Poland in summer 2014 Trip to Brazil in summer 2015 Trip to South Africa in summer 2016 All trips open to GSU community, not just COB students; Wide participation from CAS, CHHP, and COE students Upcoming trip to India in spring 2017

For me, India is such a place. When I first visited, I was stunned by the richness of the land, by its lush beauty and exotic architecture, by its ability to overload the senses with the pure, concentrated intensity of its colors, smells, tastes, and sounds… I had been seeing the world in black & white and, when brought face-to-face with India, experienced everything re-rendered in brilliant technicolor. — Keith Bellows, National Geographic Society

Tentative Itinerary When? (Trip dates): Where? (Cities to visit:) Saturday, March 11, 2017 to Tuesday, March 21 2017 (including travel days) Where? (Cities to visit:) New Delhi, Agra, and Mumbai What? Learning goals of the study trip To gain an understanding of the business environment and culture of India, an emerging economic and political powerhouse in South Asia Trip participants are encouraged to enroll in MGMT 5000/3000 (cross-listed sections): Business and Culture of India (1/16/2016-5/8/2016, Tuesdays, 4:30-7:20pm; Regular class meetings in the first six weeks prior to trip departure; and 1-2 debrief sessions after return) Instructor and trip leader: Dr. Ujvala Rajadhyaksha (urajadhyaksha@govst.edu) Undergraduate students should enroll in MGMT 3000; Graduate students should enroll in MGMT 5000; Senior who wish to take MGMT 5000 will need permission from the division chair to be enrolled in that section You can choose to take this course for credit or audit it

Company Visit and Cultural Activities New Delhi - Visit 1-2 companies - Gandhi Smriti, Qutb Minar, and Fateh puri Mosque, etc. Agra - Taj Mahal and Agra Fort Mumbai - Visit a business school and an educational non-profit organization - Visit 3-4 businesses in various industries (manufacturing, high tech, healthcare, etc.) - Elephant Island, Prince of Wales Museum, and local slum community

Estimated Cost for the Trip Estimated cost for the trip: $3400, including Domestic and international flights Hotel accommodation for the duration of the trip (4 star, triple occupancy; with double premium ($100 extra) and single premium ($200 extra) Domestic transportation and tour guide Company and university visits Culture events and sightseeing activities Two meals a day (breakfast and dinner) International travel insurance Visa fee

Possible Grants and Scholarships for Qualifying Students Office of International Service (OIS) Scholarship for GSU students (preference will be given to students who take the course for credit $500-$750 Application deadline for spring 2017 trips: 12/1/2016 Indiana University Center for International Business Education and Research (IU CIBER) grant $600 for the first 15 students who make the first two payments ($2000) by 12/15/2016

Expenses Not Included Sightseeing/free activities not included on the itinerary Personal purchases Lunch Tuition and fees for students who are taking MGMT 5000/3000 You may be able to apply financial aid funds toward the tuition and possibly part of the trip expenses, depending on the availability of your fund – please check with Matt Zarris mzarris@govst.edu in the financial aid office for details)

Important Dates and Application Process Completed application form and $500 deposit due by November 15, 2016 Second payment of $1500 due by December 15, 2016 Final payment for remaining balance due by January 15, 2017 For students who will receive funding from OIS or IU CIBER, the awarded amount will be deducted from the final payment balance accordingly Cancellation and refund policy All cancellation for valid reasons must be submitted in writing and be approved by both GSU and trip organizer Full refund will be granted if cancellation is approved by December 15th, 2016 50% of the paid amount refunded if cancellation is approved between 12/16/2016 and 1/14/2017 No refund after 1/15/2017)

What’s Next? Study Abroad Appointment - Make an appointment with Study Abroad Coordinator, Amy Schoenberg aschoenberg@govst.edu, and request the Study Abroad Application packet. Application Forms - Submit application forms and other required documents at your earliest convenience to the Office of International Services, GMT Building, Room 151. Deposit – Once your application has been reviewed and you receive acceptance, we will submit your deposit. (Application and deposit are due by 11/15/2016, but you are encouraged to submit the application and deposit early.) Study Abroad Scholarship – If you want to apply for the scholarship, submit your application to Amy Schoenberg (aschoenberg@govst.edu ) by 12/1/2016. Financial Aid - Check with the Financial Aid office to find out the possibility of using your financial aid funds/loans toward the course tuition and trip expenses. Matthew Zarris (mzarris@govst.edu) Course Registration - Register for MGMT 5000 or MGMT 3000 (either for credit or audit). Passport - Apply for passport if you don’t have one already. Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from the arrival date in India. Visa – Submit all visa documents to the Study Abroad Coordinator. Vaccinations –You should be up to date with routine vaccinations. Consult with your doctor about additional vaccines and check the Center for Disease Control website for assistance.
