Activote system The activate system is not a new idea in school. Children can select answers to questions presented on a screen and the computer will record their answers for later analysis. All children can be involved in the process so there are no children disengaged as could happen with just one child working on the Interactive Whiteboard. Technology is wonderful but this same effect can be gained with small whiteboards or voting cards. This system goes one step further by allowing the teacher access to the results data.

Activote system Export results from the flip chart into excel to look at later.

Activote system Motivational Good for assesment Doesn’t really do anything more than a whiteboard, not a magic formula!

Magic cushion Link a set of clues to a QR code or an identity tag and suddenly the physical is linked to ICT and children are motivated to explore the links. An online QR generator can easily be used to match a set of clues or statements as text. Children can then use mobile technology to capture the code and discover the clues or statements- this could be set up as a trail, a matching exercise or a game. The use of the technology makes a task far more fun as the children see the task as that of cracking the code rather than merely solving mathematical puzzles. The Rfid can be used in a similar way.

Magic cushion Links real objects with computer Accepts repeated actions Allows independence, choice and control

VLE Fronter system Encourages home school links Allows children to easily access things done in class A forum for continued communication

Data loggers In science we often use this data logger to record sound levels or temperatures. The children have to concentrate hard on the constantly changing display and consider the idea of an approximate level. It also helps them to think about numbers and their relative size in a real and meaningful situation.

Data loggers Numbers in a real situation Understanding supported by life Motivational

Share ideas! Work with someone else and do something better than you would do alone.
