Interesting facts about Sri Lanka… 1. Sri Lanka is in the Indian Ocean, south of India. Sri Lanka is a tropical island. It has 1,000 miles of beaches. 2. Sri Lanka is the tea capital of the world. Sri Lanka is also known for its tourism and garment making. Factories make clothing which is shipped to other countries. 4. Sri Lanka gained independence from Britain in 1948. 5. Sri Lanka used to be called Ceylon. 6. When Sri Lankans say yes, they don’t nod their heads up and down but rather waggle it from side to side, so it looks as if they are saying no instead.

In the summer term you will be making Sri Lankan masks with Anita in Art carousels. Also in the summer term with Anita you will be creating pointillism pictures of elephants. In Treetops and the Nest:- In RE newstimes with Rich you will be learning about Religious festivals in Sri Lanka. Erik and Mat will be cooking a Sri Lankan meal for the whole school in February.
