Eliminating Gaps

Eliminating Gaps For the first time ever, more African American Students have completed SEPs than our average SEP completion. African American Students are 2 or more times more success in the ASTEP programs. African American Success in Math 50 and Math 70 exceeded the average success rate, but we still have work to do in ACDV and Math B60.

GPS Essentials Whole programs of study. Informed choice and meta majors. Default pathways. Guaranteed milestone courses. Intrusive, just-in-time advising. Math alignment to majors.

BC Intake Outcomes

Total Pathway Cost to Students Combining Multiple Measures $1,677,552 $208,851 With Accelerated Classes creates a great cost savings and great opportunity for students to succeed ACDV 201, ACDV 65, ENGL 60, ENGL 50 HS GPA & ENGL Grades, ENGL 53

Keeping on the Path AACC Concept – Early alert, Advising, Completion Coaches, SI, Co-curricular Calif Pathway Concept – Starfish, EPI – Educational Portal, OEI, Online Tutoring BC Renegade Road map – Cohorts, Acceleration, Completion Coaches, Writing center, tutoring, Bahr report & WestEd data

BC Keeping on the Path

POLICY CHANGE Pre-collegiate curriculum acceleration & compression Application of Multiple Measures Over 80% of BC students enter unprepared and require pre-collegiate coursework to ensure readiness for college-level coursework. In the new, accelerated pathway, 57% of students are progressing through and successfully completing the requirement in a single course. This institutional shift has saved students well over $1.2 million in tuition and over 560 semesters of time.

Support Services Increase Success

Making Sure Learning Happens These data represent remedial math completion for two year cohorts each year. Notice the increase at each subsequent year and the increase for African American success. This is mitigating the disproportionate impact while raising success rated for all students.

Making Sure Learning Happens Again, looking at remedial course completion over 3 2-year cohort groups. African American are definitely making up the disproportionate impact gap while all success rates rise

The Student Perspective… What are my career options? What are the education paths to those careers? How do I get a bachelor’s degree? What will I need to take? How long will it take and how much will it cost? How do I pay for it? Ken Start Here Davis Jenkins, CCRC
