The Final Solution   World History Mr. Meester

"Jews are forbidden to walk on this side of the street." So it Begins "Jews are forbidden to walk on this side of the street." The Holocaust began with restrictions being directed towards Jews Later came the Nuremberg Laws

Streetcars were segregated

Jewish businesses had to display the Star of David Another part of the growing segregation of Jews.

Jews were forced to wear badges or arm bands

Life in the Ghettos Jews were then told to pack up and move to “Jewish Residential Districts”

Jews were not allowed to leave the "Jewish residential districts," under penalty of death. All ghettos had appalling, inhuman living conditions. Warsaw Poland had the largest ghetto. It held 400,000 people.

Little Food or Money Jews were given ration cards used it to get food from the Nazis. They contained only 300 calories per day.

Families had their valuables taken by the Nazis Families had their valuables taken by the Nazis. Before they entered the Ghetto. Nazis gave them substitute banknotes… “Ghetto Money” was worthless outside of the Ghetto.

The Final Solution This wasn’t enough for Hitler. He next began the Final Solution to the Jewish Problem. Jews were next transported to concentration camps.

The Camps Orphan children were a drain on resources. They were some of the first sent to the camps where they will be executed.

Escaping deportation to the camps was nearly impossible

Few would ever leave the camps after entry “Work Makes One Free” -Gate to Auschwitz

Most were put to work immediately if they were physically able. Factory at Auschwitz

The Holocaust The Final Solution would culminate with the attempt to completely exterminate all Jews    Holocaust: a whole burnt offering; great or total destruction of life, especially by fire; the systematic destruction of over six million European Jews by the Nazis

Zyklon B: Poisonous gas pellets used in the gas chambers

The bodies had to be disposed of in an efficient manner. Burying them utilized too much labor Burning was more efficient

The Final Solution would not succeed The Final Solution would not succeed. But it would claim the lives of over 6 million Jews and 11 million total innocents   
