REPP overview Need to increase the participation and success of URM students in Engineering Program will target 10th – 12th graders at TPS with interest in Engineering careers Target students that could succeed in Engineering Science with assistance Help students qualify for UT EN admission Improve chances of success once enrolled

REPP organization Post-10th grade summer bridge program Introduce EN careers and requirements Improve grades in HS math and science Prepare students for 11th grade & standardized tests Post-11th grade summer bridge program Prepare students for 12th grade courses Prepare students for transition into college Academic year programming during 11th & 12th grade Summer after HS graduation Successful students would enroll in UT courses Others would have opportunity to enroll in summer bridge for liberal arts and sciences

Summer bridge program 17 rising juniors from TPS completed Summer 2016 bridge program Have interest in Engineering but need assistance meeting Engineering admission standards 11 out of 17 participants are female All but 2 from underrepresented populations Will enter UT Engineering Fall 2018 if successful Conducted directed explorations of Engineering disciplines and careers Received supplemental instruction in math and writing

Academic year for 11th grade Students taking college-preparatory curriculum Continued supplemental math instruction using online program called ALEKS Will begin using another online program for ACT test preparation Progress is being regularly monitored On campus meeting in Fall to discuss 1st quarter grades and 12th grade course schedules On campus meeting in Spring to discuss college and financial aid applications, ACT testing Will take their 1st ACT test at end of Spring

Beyond 11th grade Post-11th grade summer program structure will focus on more ACT test prep and Engineering disciplines 12th grade enrollment in College Credit Plus courses as determined by student performance in 11th grade Students can receive direct credit for UT courses Bring students to UT campus for post 12th grade summer courses Want REPP students at or above level of the remaining incoming Fall class of Engineering Science students Full tuition & fee scholarship for successful program completion Seeking funds to provide on campus housing Will provide additional programming once enrolled at UT
