Hand Care cont. All gloves at BCHS are powder free vinyl gloves Skin care assessment is scheduled with Occupational Health Physician Dr. Im if there are any identified concerns Suggestions/Tips: Never put wet hands in gloves – ABHR – dry 20 sec with rubbing Use water and soap and pat dry with paper towel (avoid rubbing or friction) If ABHR is irritating your skin, contact us and switch to soap/water for a while to see if there is improvement If the hands have a sweat/moisture issue – change gloves frequently or use cotton liners (trial pairs from Org Health are available, then the dept. can order from stores) Use cream frequently – the hospital provides cream – you can get it from the stores, label with name of staff and keep away from patient areas)

Other organizational health info To comply with the Public Hospitals Act, all employees will be contacted for a T.B. Test after an exposure. It is recommended that employees receive the Hepatitis B vaccine. This vaccine is available in the Organizational Health Office at no cost to an employee. Blood work is done post vaccination to determine adequate levels. Your medical files are completely confidential and are given the same respect as in your family physician’s office. In case of a work injury or illness only, the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board does provide for limited disclosure of particulars of the injury/illness. Occasionally, we seek to correspond with your family physician or specialist, either to send him/her findings stemming from your care here, or to request further health information from his/her office. In either case, it is our practice to notify you of such communications and in the case of information sought from your physician, to obtain your consent prior to contacting him/her
