A common European approach to the regulatory testing of nanomaterials Overview of NANoREG consortium partner states Invitation to collaborate with the NANoREG Project as Interested Industry/Association in the NANoREG Industry Consultation Committee as Project Partner in a Value Chain Project or Working Group Conditions for the NANoREG industry cooperation Each member provides his own funding. I³A will nominate a contact person. NICC members will sign a Memorandum of Understanding and a nondisclosure agreement. VCP/WG member work under an individual project contract. Contact addresses National Coordinators Please consult: http://nanoreg.eu/index.php/contact NANoREG Coordinator Tom van Teunenbroek Ministerie van Infrastructuur en Milieu P.O.Box 30945, NL-2500 GX Den Haag Email: tom.van.teunenbroek@nanoreg.eu A common European approach to the regulatory testing of nanomaterials NANoREG - FP7 Flagship project on Regulatory Issues and Nanosafety 13/10/30_ENG

The innovative and economic potential of Nano Materials (NMs) is threatened by limited understanding of NM safety aspects along the value chains. Substantial efforts have given insights in toxicity of and exposure to NMs. However, today's knowledge is not comprehensive enough for regulatory purposes, answering open questions is urgently required. The outstanding approach of NANoREG will provide the right answers to Society, Industry and the National Authorities. Invitation to Industry: Collaboration with NANoREG As Interested Industry or Industry Association (I³A). As a member of the NANoREG Industry Consultation Committee (NICC). As an active partner in selected case studies along components or the entire value chain of products in Working Groups (WG) or Value Chain Projects (VCP), respectively. NANoREG topics Keeping pace with innovation: How to include safety aspects more proactively/efficiently in material/product development? Turning risks into opportunities: Identification of what needs to be developed; raising awareness among all stakeholders about their role towards safety issues in the innovation process Establishing close collaboration among authorities, industry and science to come to efficient risk management approaches Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) for the identification and characterization of NMs Identification and characterization of realistic key exposure scenarios for the workers, the consumer, and the environment across the product life-cycle, elaboration of robust data sets with industry for these scenarios The Interested industry and Industry Associations (I³A) Interested Industries or their Associations can provide their needs to future regulation and will be provided with information from the project that is thought to become public knowledge via newsletters. I³A is an informal entity. The NANoREG Industry Consultation Committee (NICC) The NICC is the gateway for the industry to bring-in their needs, to evaluate the answers, solutions and tools of NANoREG with respect to the applicability by enterprises (large and SMEs). The NICC members will have dedicated access to the NANoREG data platform and the NANoREG toolbox. Industry as active partner in VCPs and WGs VCPs and WGs are the most active way to collaborate with the NANoREG project. For an VCP the whole value chain of a sample product will be examined and evaluated through all the NANoREG work packages. A WG only looks a selected spot in a value chain in collaboration with the work package or packages which provide the competence necessary. The VCP/WG partners will have dedicated access to the NANoREG data platform and the NANoREG toolbox. Partner are asked to provide real data, samples, SOPs and other tools to be evaluated in a VCP or WG under an individually negotiated project contract.
