US European Command (USEUCOM) MISSION Support and advance U.S. interest and policies throughout the assigned area of responsibility; provide combat ready land, maritime, and air forces to Allied Command Europe or U.S. unified commands; and conduct operations unilaterally or in concert with coalition partners. Headquarters: Patch Barracks, in Stuttgart-Vaihingen, Germany
USEUCOM AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY The area of responsibility (AOR) of the United States European Command covers more than 21 million square miles and includes 93 countries and territories. This territory extends from the North Cape of Norway, through the waters of the Baltic and Mediterranean seas, most of Europe, parts of the Middle east, to the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa.
USEUCOM Effective 1 Oct 1998, the AOR of USEUCOM expanded to include six Western Slavic and Caucasus states of the former Soviet Union. These six nations are:

US Central Command (USCENTCOM) MISSION "A flexible and versatile command into the twenty-first century . . . trained, positioned, and ready to defend the nation's vital interests, promote peace and stability, deter conflict in the central region; and, if necessary, be prepared to wage unrelenting, simultaneous joint and combined operations to achieve victory in war." Headquarters: MacDill AFB, Florida
USCENTCOM AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY (AOR) 27 culturally and economically diverse nations located throughout the Horn of Africa, South and Central Asia, and Northern Red Sea regions, as well as the Arabian Peninsula and Iraq.

History Of USCENTCOM USCENTCOM can trace its history to the establishment of the Rapid Deployment Joint Task Force (RDJTF) on March 1, 1980 USCENTCOM activated as a Unified Combatant Command on Jan 1, 1983.
