Presentation transcript:

Do now! Can you read the instruction sheet for the “Visking tubing” experiment we started on Friday?

Last lesson Modeling the small intestine using visking tubing.

Small intestine As food passes along the long tube of the small intestine, its molecules become small enough to be absorbed into the blood through the intestine walls.

Visking tubing Visking tubing has small holes in that only let small molecules like glucose through, but not big starch molecules.

Starch Starch + saliva ?

Starch test Iodine solution turns blue/black with starch

Testing for glucose – Benedict’s solution

Flicker Book Digestion Cut out the pieces CAREFULLY along the dotted lines. Put them in order in a pile and staple the top. Flick the pages! Write down an explanation/description of what you are observing in the cartoon.

Homework! Can you show your parents the flick book and explain to them what is happening in the pictures. Can you please get them to sign the slip of paper in your book (for next Friday 16th)
