Aim / scope / objective of Management Project Justify it is as an area of investigation Identify how you completed your research, info and data used etc Identify GIS info used & maps! Your findings and available options Identify why you have chosen your preferred option Discuss resources required in terms of costs Identify cost benefits from completing the project Discuss implications and impact of the project on SERC Identify risks to SERC if project does not proceed, think ‘5 points to come away with’ and ‘so what’ in your presentation! Approx 5-10 slides – only 20mins long. Good luck
Aim Reduce costs of enrolment by reducing the amount of staff required Reduce queue times for students on results days Improve overall quality of data captured
Justify the Need One of the objectives of the College Development Plan for 2012-2015 is to deliver a balanced budget. A cost reduction for the enrolment process would aid CMT in meeting their target. Over 5000 FT students Improving the enrolments process will have a major impact on the students experience at SERC
Research Student Enrolment Survey – Available to students on the enrolment day Over 50% of students visited the website to find enrolment info Students wait longer for keying than seeing a tutor Waiting time to see a tutor Waiting time for keying

Options 1. Continue with current process 2. Reduction in the amount of additional keyers Introduce a new online process Pros Reduction in the amount of staff required for the enrolment process. Data accuracy would be increased as information would be keyed on by the students and not secondary staff. Data protection would be increased as data will be held securely on SERC servers. Backups of the data could be stored whereas backups could not be taken with the paper based system Cons Staff be required to learn a new system Students familiar with the current system may be confused with the electronic system Some students may not be computer literate enough to fill out an online enrolment form.
Resources & Costs Costs Reduction in temp staff needed for enrolment Paper based forms can be dropped Pop-Up Stands for directions Branded T-Shirts – Here To Help! Resources Training for staff involved in the process Specialists in each school trained on the program Time and Support from CMT to sell the process to academic staff
Risks to SERC staying with current process Failure to stay up-to-date and move with the times Current process risks breaching the Data Protection Act 1998 by holding inaccurate data Loss of reputation resulting in a reduction in potential students Missed marketing potential – students personal emails
