Research Requests Fall and Spring submission windows July – September November – January Form available online (Word format) Must include the following: Request for Research Form (completed and signed) Abstract (75-100 words) Literature Review Instruments to be used Methods/Data Collection procedures Consent Forms
Research Review Board Process Researcher notified of receipt of materials and distribution to Research Review Board Board consists of 5 members Board provides initial consent if at least 75% of reviewers approve request Does not constitute permission to carry out the research as proposed Permits researcher to move forward with clearance and contacting principals for written consent Decision options: Approved Approved with recommendations Approved with conditions Decline
Clearance Contract between LCS and FSU Contact Jessica Waters for assistance with obtaining security clearance Fingerprinting Proof of health insurance Proof of liability insurance LCS adds researcher to list of individuals cleared to enter schools Not required if research within schools consists of an online survey only
Principal’s Consent In LCS, final consent rests with the principal Must obtain principal’s written consent for all participating schools Submit signed form(s) to Testing, Research, & Evaluation office.
Parent/student consent LCS requires explicit consent from parents and students Parents and students must opt in, not opt out
Data Collection, Extensions, & Results Data collection is limited to the academic year in which the request was submitted and approved Extensions into the next academic year require a progress report with a request to extend research (available online) LCS requests that researchers share results with the district Failure to share results with the district can result in denial of future research requests
