Rejecting God Equals Adultery Jeremiah 3:6-10 CEV The Lord Asks Israel to Come Back to Him 6 When Josiah was king, the Lord said: Jeremiah, the kingdom of Israel was like an unfaithful wife who became a prostitute on the hilltops and in the shade of large trees.7-8 I knew that the kingdom of Israel had been unfaithful and committed many sins, yet I still hoped she might come back to me. But she didn’t, so I divorced her and sent her away.

Rejecting God Equals Adultery Jeremiah 3:6-10 CEV Her sister, the kingdom of Judah, saw what happened, but she wasn’t worried in the least, and I watched her become unfaithful like her sister. 9 The kingdom of Judah wasn’t sorry for being a prostitute, and she didn’t care that she had made both herself and the land unclean by worshiping idols of stone and wood. 10 And worst of all, the people of Judah pretended to come back to me.

Jesus Raises the Bar Higher Matthew 5:27-18 CEV Marriage 27 You know the commandment which says, “Be faithful in marriage.” 28 But I tell you that if you look at another woman and want her, you are already unfaithful in your thoughts.

I Choose You to be My Spouse I Reject All Future Alternative Possibilities

Joseph and Potiphar’s wife Genesis 39:9 Joseph and Potiphar’s wife 9 No one in my master’s house is more important than I am. The only thing he hasn’t given me is you, and that’s because you are his wife. I won’t sin against God by doing such a terrible thing as this.”

Hebrews 13:4 4 Have respect for marriage. Always be faithful to your partner, because God will punish anyone who is immoral or unfaithful in marriage.

Matthew 19:9 9 I say that if your wife has not committed some terrible sexual sin, you must not divorce her to marry someone else. If you do, you are unfaithful.”

5 We each must carry our own load. Galatians 6:5 5 We each must carry our own load.

Matthew 19:3-8 3 Some Pharisees wanted to test Jesus. They came up to him and asked, “Is it right for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?” 4 Jesus answered, “Don’t you know that in the beginning the Creator made a man and a woman? 5 That’s why a man leaves his father and mother and gets married. He becomes like one person with his wife. 6 Then they are no longer two people, but one. And no one should separate a couple that God has joined together.” 7 The Pharisees asked Jesus, “Why did Moses say that a man could write out divorce papers and send his wife away?” 8 Jesus replied, “You are so heartless! That’s why Moses allowed you to divorce your wife. But from the beginning God did not intend it to be that way.

Getting Back on the Right Track Malachi 2:14 Getting Back on the Right Track 14 And why isn’t God pleased? It’s because he knows that each of you men has been unfaithful to the wife you married when you were young. You promised that she would be your partner, but now you have broken that promise. “Don’t Be Unfaithful”

Young women of Jerusalem, He is my lover and friend. Song of Solomon 5:16 “This is my lover and my friend” His kisses are sweet. I desire him so much! Young women of Jerusalem, He is my lover and friend.

Rediscovering your spouse’s value as a person 1Corinthians 7:23 23 God paid a great price for you. So don’t become slaves of anyone else. Romans 12:3 3 I realize how kind God has been to me, and so I tell each of you not to think you are better than you really are. Use good sense and measure yourself by the amount of faith that God has given you.

Day 1 Love Is Patient Be completely humble and gentle, be patient, bearing with one another in love. Eph. 4:2 (NIV) Today’s Dare: The first part of this dare is rarely simple. Although Love is communicated in a number of ways our words often reflect the condition of our heart. For the next day, resolve to demonstrate patience and to say nothing negative to your spouse at all. If the temptation arises, choose not to say anything. It’s better to hold your tongue then to say something you’ll regret.

Day 4 Love is Thoughtful How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I could count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you.” Psalm 139:17-18 Today’s Dare: Contact your spouse sometime during the business of the day. Have no agenda other than asking how he or she is doing and if there is anything you could do for them.
