Principles for Professional Practice Doctorates 3. Provides opportunities for candidates to develop and demonstrate collaboration and communication skills to work with diverse communities and to build partnerships. Rural Schools Network sponsored by Central Valley Educational Leadership Institute (CVELI) 14 Sups from surrounding rural districts meet every other month Exists to connect rural superintendents - study problem at their district Sups are paired with faculty and doctoral students Identify a single district problem and root causes Doc students learn Fenwick English’s Program audit and applied protocols Doc students master the data review, document review, classroom scan and interview protocols Doc students conducted program audits in 5 districts

Rural Schools Network sponsored by Central Valley Educational Leadership Institute (CVELI) Doc students compiled a data binder for each of the 14 participating Sups Data focus was on statistical views of student achievement for all student sub groups Data displays included histograms, scatter grams, stand data and like-school comparison data 2 Doc students studied the problem of declining enrollments in a district – provided report and options to address issue

Fresno State Signature Pedagogy: Embedded Fieldwork Reform Course: Collaborative groups of students Work with school site, district office, CC Study a reform effort at that site Lit Review about the topic Information gathering (surveys/interviews) Written and Oral presentation on findings and recommendations Curriculum Perspective Course Work with school site Curriculum Alignment for both PreK-12 and HE
