Welcome To Back-to-School Night Health Education

Meet The Teacher The basics: I am a certified Health and Physical Education teacher and I started teaching in 2000. I am also married, and have two boys. New York State Health Standards Health Education is required for New York State High School graduation (1) Personal Health and Fitness (2) A Safe and Healthy Environment (3) Resource Management How we meet those standards: Course Skills: Self and Relationship Management, Stress Management, Communication, Decision-making, Planning and Goal-Setting, Advocacy. Course Functional knowledge: Physical Activity and Nutrition, HIV/AIDS, Sexual Risk, Tobacco, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Family Life/Sexual Health, Unintentional Injury Prevention, Violence Prevention, and Other Required Health Areas.

Learning Activities: Students will be asked to participate in and complete Individual projects, current event research, cooperative learning group work, role-plays and improvisational skits, decision-making scenarios, and homework activities. Class Procedures: Marking Period Grade is determined by tests (25%), homework (35%)and effort rubric (40%) (class behavior, lateness, participation and preparation) Student responsibilities It is your responsibility to make up any work I will not accept any late work Bring your binder and pen, pencil to every class Snacking or eating is not allowed Phones must be away at all times Use restroom before class, breaks are limited
