INTERNSHIP Summer 2017

Requirements Should be a Business major Junior standing Have completed by the end of Fall 16-17 at least: 38 credits (if admitted as sophomores) 68 credits (if admitted as freshmen) Completed (by the end of Spring 16-17 or taking it in the summer after working hours): FINA 210 INFO 200 MNGT 215 MKTG 210

Guidelines Duration: 8 weeks (during Summer Session) Between May 18th and August 25th Work week: not less than 5 working days Working Hours: as per the host company (not less that 6 hours/day) Supervision: AUB: OSB Faculty Mentor Company: Work Supervisor Grading: based on evaluations of direct work supervisor and OSB mentor The internship grade is included in the overall average

How to start ? Prepare your CV Solicit your own internship through personal effort: Networking is the #1 way to find opportunities Talk to senior students or alumni Talk directly to employers (Job Fairs) Browse the internet & apply online (through companies website) Check the list of previous host companies and their contact details on OSB website Start looking for an internship Now! Don’t postpone

What to prepare ? Personal Profile Letter of intent OSB can provide letters for Embassies in order to facilitate visa issuance OSB can provide Verification Letters to the companies if needed. To request this letter go to the Undergraduate Student Service Office (OSB 113A) Bring Name of the contact person Bring Position of the contact person Bring the company’s name

Deadline Deadline for securing an internship: April 15th, 2017

Payment of fees May 15th – June 14th Internship, BUSS 245 is a One-Credit course

Common Questions What if I do not have an internship by April 15th? You might have to postpone your internship until the summer of 2018 What if the company does not confirm acceptance by April 15th? Stress the deadline to the host company (University requirement - April 15th) Can I work for a family business? We look at case by case basis Can I do my internship in two different companies? Yes, Minimum of 4weeks/company & one acceptance letter/company How many courses I am allowed to take with the internship? one (3-credit) course, in addition to 0-credit workshops after working hours

Important dates to remember Deadline for securing an internship and providing OSB Undergraduate Program Office with official acceptance letter from host company April 15th Payment of Fees May 15th – June 14th Start/end of Internship (duration: 8 weeks) Between May 18th - August 25th
