Do you know which countries the festivals come from? Us and Europe , Japan , Mexico 3. What are the people in the pictures doing? Why are they doing this? Trick or treating , floating paper lanterns, lighting candles for prayers to the dead

Picture 1 Halloween in the US on October 31. In the evening children dress up in costumes, and they go door to door in their neighborhoods. When the homeowner opens the door, they say "Trick or Treat". The home owner gives the children candy

Picture 2 Obon (Ghost Festival)in Japan on 13th July. It is said that on Obon, the ancestors' spirits return to this world and visit their relatives. People traditionally hang lanterns in front of their houses in order to guide their ancestors' spirits. Food offers are made at houses and at temples, and special dances (bon-odori) are performed. At the end of the festival, floating lanterns are put into rivers and seas to guide the spirits back into their world.
