Your Digital Footprint: What You Post Follows You As you watch this video, think ahead 20 years from now. Everything you put on the internet now will still be there in 20 years, and longer. When you put anything on the internet, it is there forever, and people will be able to find it just by searching your name. This video will help you understand the impact of the information you put out on the internet.

Name Activity Option1: Digital Option 2: Handwritten Open a new word document on this computer. Type your name anywhere on the page Now, type at least 5 words anywhere on the page. Choose adjectives that you want people to use to describe your digital footprint. Get a sheet of paper (lined or unlined – it is up to you) Write your name in the middle of the page Now write at least 5 words anywhere on the page. Choose adjectives that you want people to use to describe your digital footprint. Let’s take a minute and think about how we want our digital footprint to be seen by others. You have 2 options for this activity, you only need to choose 1. If you want to do this activity on the computer, you can open a word document (Be sure to save your document ; if you prefer to do this activity by hand, just get a piece of paper (it does not matter if it is lined or unlined) and a writing utensil. Put your name on the page and then write five words that you want people to use to describe your online, digital footprint.

“Copyright and Fair Use” Video In middle school, students are often required to use the internet to search for information to use in assignments. It is very important to remember the rules about copyright and fair use. You always have to remember, if you didn’t create something yourself then you have to give credit to the creator. If you have more questions about citation and fair use, ask your media center instructor or your classroom teacher. They will be happy to help you follow copyright and fair use policies.
