Entering and Exiting Class Entering Class After entering the room, students may not leave without permission. Upon entering, students should go to their assigned seats, get out their notebooks, and work on the bell work. Students will continue work on bell work while attendance is taken and until the teacher makes an announcement to stop. Exiting Class The teacher will dismiss the class Not The Bell. After hearing the alert students will clean the area on and around their desks. They will also pack up all of their belongings. Subsequently students will remain seated until they are dismissed by the teacher.

Being Prepared and Writing Utensils Bring required materials each day, pencils, pens, sharpeners and paper. It is your job to keep your class folder stocked with paper. Also, it means to bring your homework back on time! Writing Utensils Students may use a pencil or a pen (blue or black ink) Blue or black ink should be used for formal writing assignments (such as rough drafts for projects or lab reports.)

Maintaining Your Class Notebook Notebook will contain assigned classwork, homework, lab sheets, notes, quizzes and tests. The notebook will also have a table of contents sheet that must be up to date. Don’t worry about the page numbers on the table of contents sheet. 4. Also, you will receive a grade for the contents of your notebook at the end of the quarter. 5. The grade for the notebook check will count as a test grade.

Papers Handing Out and Collecting Class Folders. At the beginning of each class an assigned student will hand out the class folders. When instructed by the teacher towards end of class, pass the folder to the student in front of you. Teacher will collect them from those students. Heading Papers Write your full name, the date and your period number on the top-right hand corner of all pages. Place Heading on the paper as instructed by teacher. Writing on the back of homework and class work is permitted. Passing in papers Papers remain in student folder until teacher instructs to hand them in. When handing in papers pass them to the student in front of you/ Teacher will collect them from the first person in row.

After entering the classroom, students must raise there hand for permission to use the restroom or get water. c. Pencil Sharpening and Trash Students are to sharpen pencils upon entering the classroom. If your lead breaks during class and if your have no other writing utensil, raise your hand and wait for further instructions. Trash Trash will be thrown away when your are dismissed from class. Keep it at your desk until you are dismissed. Pick up all paper around your desk before leaving the room.

Walking In The Hallways As A Class Students are expected to walk in a straight line when in the hallway. There will be NO TALKING in line. Other students are still in class. All class rules apply in the hallway.

Homework Collection While working on the bell work, at their desks, students will get out their homework and place it on their desks. Students will make sure they have their name, date, and period on their homework. After taking attendance the teacher will walk around the room and collect all homework. If a student is seen working on homework, the assignment will not be collected.

Tips for Success Bring required materials to class, every class. Keep your notebook organized (make sure to check the table of contents page regularly. If absent check the folder, with me, or with a classmate. Pack your school bag the night before class.

Tips for Success (Cont’d) Keep a calendar at home with important homework, project, and test dates. Bring an agenda to class everyday to write homework. Communicate with me if you need help of any kind. Try to have a routine.

How to Ask a Question Raise your hand quiet and wait to be called on. If I am at my desk working or busy, and do not see you raising your hand say “Ms. Parekh” or “Ms. Parekh I have a question”. Then when you’re addressed ask your question.

Classroom Quiet Signal Clap once if you can hear me, clap twice if you can hear me. 1, 2, 3 eyes on me. 4, 5, 6 eyes are fixed. When I say “class, class” all students repeat back “ yes, yes”.
