We begin by welcoming students in the project. We explain the approach of the project and then we move on to teach some basic features of OneNote and create their personal Notebook. We make sure that we have created a OneNote class notebook “OneNote in my class (school name)” for the class the lesson is to be applied. We can distribute a ready made content library to the new notebook. This presentation without the comments for the instructors can be available for the students, in the content library of their class notebook. Please read the notes of each slide for further instructions.

Introduction to ATS2020 project 5’ (slides 1-13)

What is the ATS2020 project? Your class will participate in the Assessment of Transversal skills project (ATS2020). The project is funded by the European Union. The project is comprised of 17 partners from 11 EU countries. Through the project, you will have the chance to get involved with new ways of learning using new digital tools.

Creativity & Innovation Communication & Collaboration Creativity & Innovation Autonomous learning Information literacy ATS2020 transversal skills Digital literacy We show the slide and read the text in the next slide

What are transversal skills What are transversal skills? (for the instructor – explanatory text on the previous slide) Transversal skills are skills that are required in the 21st century society. This project will focus on some of them and we will try to develop them with the help of technology. Let’s see on which skills we will focus. We know very well how important it is to be able to communicate and collaborate with people around us. For this reason one competence area we will work on, is on how to become better at working with others, but also how to become better at communicating with others what we know, our ideas and our work. Another area that we will address is the development of creativity and innovation. To be able, that is, to utilize material we have located and turn it into something new, something our own. To be able to identify a need or a problem and take action to find creative solutions. We will particularly deal with autonomous learning. By autonomous learning we mean to be able on our own to take the initiative to track our learning needs, formulate objectives, identify learning resources, choose and implement strategies for learning and evaluate our learning outcomes. The other area of competences we will work on is informational literacy. Those are the skills that enable a person to identify, locate, evaluate and use the information they need in an efficient manner. Text to say for the previous slide

What is expected from you to do… Learning cycle Learning cycle Learning cycle Learning cycle “My learning” journal “My learning” journal “My learning” journal “My learning” journal ePortfolio ePortfolio ePortfolio ePortfolio (slide is animated) For the project you will have 3-4 learning cycles (units) [if in their case they will do 3 units we adapt the slide accordingly]. For the lessons you will do different tasks and activities. For each learning cycle you will keep your personal “My learning journal” for your learning and prepare your ePortfolio for that unit. Also, you will have a “My learning journal” for the skills you will develop during the year. In the end of the year you will have an ePortfolio for all the units. You will monitor your progress through your self-evaluation during the school year and form your final self-evaluation. You will also be evaluated by your teacher and classmates and take action to improve. Evaluation ePortfolio My participation in ATS2020 for 2016-2017 “My learning” journal ATS2020 My skills for 2016-2017

“My learning” journal For each unit you will keep your “My learning” journal This journal will be the space to set goals, develop strategies to achieve them and generally to think about what you have learnt. Prior knowledge What do I already know on the subject? What kind of skills do I already have? Setting goals What are my goals? What do I want to succeed? Strategies What can I do to reach my goals? Evidence What kind of evidence do I need to prove my learning achievements? Self-evaluation Did I achieve my goals? What could I do better?

ePortfolio ePortfolios are dynamic digital spaces that belong to you and work as: Repository Students create and collect material. (e.g. upload and save photos, voice files, pictures, documents, videos, links or other interesting material) Workspace Students set their goals, organize their learning experiences and activities, collaborate with others, reflect and evaluate their own and their classmates’ learning process. Showcase Students present their achievements, work and learning products.

Introduction to

What is Office 365; It is a web-based platform, which includes productivity applications (Web Apps). These include online versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. This application allows editing the file content from any device that has internet access.

Lets begin…

I don’t share my password with anyone. Login in Office365 Go to: http://office365.ats2020.eu Your teacher will give you your username. Your password is ats2020!st You will need to change your password the first time you login. It is very important to remember your password and username. Alternative website: portal.office.com I don’t share my password with anyone. A good password has lower and capital case letters, numbers and symbols. A good password has at least 8 symbols. The bigger the code, the more difficult to hack. A trick to write a good password is to think of a sentence that has a name and a number in it and remember the first letter of each word.

After you login you will see this page. To change the language, you will need to click on the settings icon in the top right corner and choose Office 365 settings. 10’ slides 17-21

Choose your language and time zone and click on save.

From the choice “My profile” you can edit details of your profile. To manage your profile, you will need to click on the top right corner the image icon and click on change to change your profile picture. From the choice “My profile” you can edit details of your profile. Be careful, all your classmates can see your profile. We shouldn’t upload pictures or other information that may put us in a difficult position now or in the future.

You can edit your profile and add information about you like your school. Slide is optional. They can add their school. To save time, we can only show this slide and if they want to, they can change their profile at home. You shouldn’t share your phone number and address and any other information that may cause you troubles now or in the future.

Office 365 includes Online versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint και OneNote, where every user can create, edit and share files. Email services, calendar and contacts that are supported by Exchange Online. Each user can create research, forms and quizzes using the Forms. And a lot more…

OneNote Class Notebook OneNote Class Notebook will become your online class, in which you will work for some of the lesson’s activities. It’s a private notebook between the teacher, your classmates and you. Class Notebook allows the creation of student’s ePortfolio and the completion of students’ “My learning” journal. students to work independently and collaboratively, to share their work with their teacher and classmates, to set their work for evaluation to their teacher and classmates, to self-assess their work, to present their work OneNote class notebooks is a closed protected environment where only your classmates, teachers and program coordinators have access to.

How to locate my Class Notebooks

From the menu that appears we choose Class notebook Then we choose the notebook: «OneNote in my class».

You will be transferred to this page where you will locate different sections. This is the introduction page. Here, you can locate your tasks for the unit.

In the Content library you can find material like texts to read or leaflets. The teacher can add material here. Students can only read the material and copy it to their notebooks but they cannot write or edit.

In the Collaboration space everyone in the class can read and write.

In the personal notebook, that is available under the student’s name, you can do your personal work, take notes, get your evaluation, complete your “My learning” journal, create your ePortfolio for the unit. Only you and your teacher have access to this space. Your classmates can’t see your personal notebooks.

Before you begin to work in our “OneNote in my class” lesson, it is important to see some of the tools available in the menus.

It is also important to know that to copy, cut and paste in OneNote online version you should use the shortcut keys: Copy: CTRL + C Cut: CTRL + X Paste: CTRL + V

Let’s move on in the practical application of our lesson. In “OneNote in my class” Class notebook you will work independently and collaboratively. Students go to OneNote class notebook “OneNote in my class” to do their activities. Please see the instructions in the document: “OneNote_in_my_class_activities.docx”

Create My OneNote notebook “My participation in ATS2020”

To create a new OneNote notebook I click on and then on

Then, choose to create a new OneNote notebook

Give your notebook the name: “My participation in ATS2020”

My learning journal for ATS2020 As mentioned earlier, for each unit, you will keep a learning journal and by the end of the school year you will have your “My learning journal for ATS2020” In this activity, you will create this journal and your ePortfolio for the ATS2020 project for 2016- 2017.

After you create your OneNote notebook you will see the next page. Sections Page space Pages After you create your OneNote notebook you will see the next page.

My learning journal for ATS2020 First you need to create the pages of the journal. Create a new section and name it: “My learning journal for ATS2020”

My learning journal for ATS2020 Create 5 pages with the following titles: 1. Prior Knowledge 2. Setting Goals 3. Strategies 4. Evidence 5. Self-evaluation

My learning journal for ATS2020 In “My learning journal for ATS2020” you will need to complete: Prior knowledge: What you already know about transversal skills? What skills you feel that you have? Setting goals: What skills do you want to have by the end of the school year? During the year, you should complete your “My learning journal for ATS2020” Take a note of the time and date for each new entry you make to your journal. This way it is easier for you to keep track.

Create a new section and name it: “ePortfolio for ATS2020”.

In your ePortfolio you will upload and save different artefacts that illustrate your learning. For example… presentations Answers to exercises Worksheet solutions Documents Notes that you have taken Photographs and pictures concept maps, diagrams, graphs or other ways that you used to organize the concepts of the course and / or your thoughts Graphic means of organisation Video with relevant material (found or video you made) Real or digital objects you created Links to sources with relevant/interesting material you have located.
