Math 6 App Mrs. Gonzalez Room 727

Why am I here?? To learn!! To explore your own math skills and discover how amazing you are in math To learn from your teacher and your classmates To be part of a community that helps one another To participate on a daily basis and improve math skills

What am I required to do everyday? Be on time Be prepared by bringing all necessary materials to class Follow all directions Be respectful to your class

Mrs. Gonzalez’s Rules Have all required material Be respectful and polite to your classmates and teacher If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all Do not disrupt the learning experience for yourself or others Keep your hands and feet (or any other object) to yourself Raise your hand and wait to be called on to ask questions or make comments The bell does not dismiss you Mrs. Gonzalez dismisses you Be responsible for your words and actions Do not make excuses for not being responsible and/or inappropriate behavior

I messed up… Warning If you apologize, mean it. Student/teacher conference And try your absolute hardest to change the negative behavior Phone call/email home Phone call during class to parent Counselor referral Dean referral

What if I am having a bad day? Talk to Mrs. Gonzalez You have the option to Ask to be excused or not be part of the activity Do not argue with Mrs. Gonzalez or other classmates Take a step back, breathe, relax your body and brain Voice your opinions, but do not fight Talk to Mrs. Gonzalez after class/school to explain the situation

So after all that what do I do when I get to class?? Come into class with an appropriate demeanor Grab any paper(s), notebook, folder on the table as soon as you walk in Sharpen pencil, gather materials and be ready to work when bell rings Begin working on bell work immediately Do not wait to be told, sit down and begin working No bell work?? Read the instructions on the board Be ready to participate and learn!

What type of work will I be doing? Math Note taking Group activities Partner activities Independent practice Progress monitoring IEP goals

Assignments, quizzes, & tests You will have class work You will be required to complete assignments in class for a grade Anything you do not complete is automatically homework You will have homework Not every day but most days If you have questions ask All homework topics are covered in class, check your notes You will have quizzes & tests Quizzes will be given to assess students’ progress Tests will be given to assess students’ learning

I was absent, what do I do? Come to class Any work/notes taken while you were absent will be in the absent folder with your name on it If you were absent during a quiz/test make arrangements with Mrs. Gonzalez Complete all work and turn in as soon as possible Do not forget the late slip No slip no grade

Write your first & last name, date, period

I don’t like math!! Mrs. Gonzalez prefers reading, but sometimes you just have to do things you might not like Ask questions when you do not understand Will you need to know this when you grow up? In matter of fact the math skills you learn in this class will be used on a daily basis when you are a full grown adult Come with a positive attitude, good things come to those who are positive thinkers!

There’s an emergency!! Shelter in place Fire Alarm Stay calm Follow the teacher’s instructions Line up by the door and wait for the teacher to tell you to walk out There are two types of shelter in place Practice-stay seated, be quiet, and continue activity (unless otherwise told) Walk towards designated area Do not talk to other students Real-Calmly/quietly/quickly move behind Mrs. G desk, stay as close to the wall and floor, lay on your stomach and cover your head. (do not make any noise) Do not play/joke/mess around

Be patient, be kind, be the best version of yourself If you are trying your hardest and being positive people around you will notice You will have a better experience in your math class Have a sense of humor Life is suppose to be fun, maybe not math, but life should be worth living
