What is phonics? Phonics is a method for teaching reading and writing the English language. The aim is to increase your child's ability to hear, identify, and manipulate letters and sounds. How do we teach phonics? How can you help? To start with lots of listening games Then…. One sound introduced each week Follow Letters and Sounds Songs, actions, objects, whiteboard work, flash cards How can you help? Blending and Segmenting By letting the child have a go themselves.
