If the eLearning is part of a large course with many pieces, such as CCT or RCT, the eLearning template should be adapted to be similar to the PowerPoint template for the course. However, on the title slide, a simple, light background is preferred so as to keep the Alliance logo highly visible A compelling photo is preferred on the title slide, but a different kind of image – or no image at all – is acceptable. Use Verdana except for text labels, or where emphasis or design requires a different font. (For instance, in some case, a font that looks handwritten is appropriate) These elements can vary: The colors and content in the body of the slide can be whatever is instructionally appropriate to guide and hold attention and to enhance understandability and appeal Background color and design can vary, but should not clash with top or bottom bar. The slide layout does not need to follow any of Microsoft’s suggested layouts in the template

Role of Branding and Instructional Design The purpose of branding is to make it obvious on the title slide, and then to indicate on all subsequent slides, that it is an Alliance eLearning. Each eLearning is both an instructional experience and a marketing opportunity for the Alliance. Both goals need to be met, but the learning experience is much more prominent. Except for the title slide – which has the Alliance logo prominently displayed – the branding elements on each slide are restricted to the top bar and the bottom bar. Except for the top and bottom bars, instructional designers are NOT required to use only the six Alliance colors in the body of the slide.
