Having what you have in mind out, put down on paper and have you or other people get the idea of what you had in mind is fun. If you can form a correct English grammar sentence, and inspire or pass a message across, you are a writer. If you can grab the mind of a reader through your writing, you are a writer If you can be given a topic you are not knowledgeable about, research about it and come up with facts, you are a writer. Click to move to the next slide In freelancing field, writing is more of a career than a job. The difference between a career and a job is that a career is something you do to fulfill a passion whereas a job is wholly for financial gains. Ironically, most people with careers earn more than those who have jobs. That is why most people complain about low payments and their bosses while in their jobs. Whereas, a person with a career such as doctor or an IT engineer can receive an emergency call in the middle of the night, grab his /her car keys and rush to save the situation. Therefore whether you are writing for profit, or hobby, you need to find a way that you can fall in love with writing. The only secret to fall in love with writing is to read, write, read and write. WRITING BASICS: GENERATING A TOPIC In this lesson, you will learn how to come up with an interesting topic, develop it and present it to the reader Don’t worry on what to write. There are vast arrays of topics that you can write about. Some guy told me that there are no more topics to write about and no offence, I couldn’t help laughing. No matter how much content is generated everyday on the internet, there is no way writers will ever exhaust topics to write about. Click to move to next slide

a) Generating your own topic Do you know you can generate thousands of titles from a single topic? In journalism it is usually referred to as coming up with an angle. You can choose a trending topic like weight loss and from it; you can generate as many titles as you want such as: Effects of weight loss Why lose weight Foods to help you in weight loss Causes of weight loss Quick ways to reduce weight Weight loss tips Weight loss mobile apps and so on and so forth Click to move to next slide

You can also choose a financial topic such as wealth and from it, generate titles such as: Secrets of becoming wealthy Difference between being wealth and rich Advantages of being wealthy Disadvantages of being wealthy Sources of wealth A common scenario in topic generation happen when you are writing a blog or generating content for a website on your own. In blogging or article writing, these topics and titles are referred to as niches. TODAY’S ASSIGNMENT In today’s assignment you are required to come up with at least four topics and generate at least five titles about them as explained in part a. For example, Topic_ smoking Title 1_why do people smoke?
