Butterfly WebQuest Introduction Task Resources Process Evaluation Conclusion Hey, kiddos! Here is your Butterfly WebQuest! Just use the menu at the top of the page to navigate to whichever element you are looking for!

Introduction Introduction Task Resources Process Evaluation Conclusion Alright, kids! It’s time to spread your wings and fly! We have spent the last few weeks studying the life cycles of different butterflies and now it is time to apply what you know into a fun research project! Don’t worry! It will be fun!

Task Introduction Task Resources Process Evaluation Conclusion Imagine you are inside a chrysalis. Stretch…stretch...and pop! Out you come! What kind of butterfly are you? Where are you from? What was life like before you were a butterfly? How did you change into a butterfly? What is your life like now?

You can also go to the library for resources, too! The librarian can help you find all sorts of books on butterflies!

Process Introduction Task Resources Process Evaluation Conclusion 1. You will need to pick a partner that you could work well with.   2. Together, you will brainstorm and research your topic as best you can. 3. Start your research using the web sites found at the end of this document or you can use sources from the library. 4. Decide how you want to present your group’s information (PowerPoint, Poster, or Movie Maker?) 5. Locate the region where your butterfly lives. Does your butterfly migrate? Include a map and label where it can be found. 6. Find pictures of your butterfly not only as a butterfly but also in its caterpillar and chrysalis stages. 7. Include at least two interesting facts (one fact per person) about your butterfly. 8. Work together and write a one page paper about the importance of butterflies in our environment and how we can do our part in helping them succeed. 9. Include a page that says where you found your pictures (the rest of us may be interested in checking it out, too!)

Evaluation Introduction Task Resources Process Evaluation Conclusion Below, you will find the rubric that your project will be graded on: Scoring Rubric Group Members ____________________/_______________________ Date ____________________ Criteria Points Possible Score Butterfly Identification 10 Map Locations Life Cycle Demonstration Typed Paper 15 Interesting Facts 5 Project Creativity 20 TOTAL 70
