QUESTION ANSWER PAGES 76-77 What effect did WW1 have on Europe (the aftermath)?   What is the Treaty of Versailles – give details? 1917-1920  1. Germany wanted more land (in Africa) so they declared war on Russia and France. 2. Austria, Hungary, Germany fought France, Russian and UK 3. Germany was defeated – and the Treaty of Versailles took some of their power and land. An agreement between Germany and other European Countries. Took some of Germany’s land and military size to make them weak so they won’t start anymore wars. Germany had to pay for all of the damages and loss done to the other countries that fought.

The economy took a major downfall due to the stock market crash. 2. The whole world suffered including Europe. 3. People all over the world had little or no money, no jobs, no homes and no food. 1. Lost jobs and no money, 2. Poverty was everywhere and people lived in shantytown and many were homeless. 3. People were starving and dying. 4. Homeless, Starving, Beg for food, Soup Kitchen/Bread Lines opened to try to help starving people 5. Farmers lost their land and crops could not be produced which caused a shortage of food

What is propaganda and what part did it play during Nazism? 1933-1945 A time period when Adolf Hitler and Nazis (Political Party) took over Germany because they wanted to take over Europe and the world. Jews and other minorities were mistreated persecuted. Proganda is lies and exaggerated statements used by the Nazis gain power. They told lies about how they would fix problems of country by blaming the Jewish people and othe minorities for the problems.

What effect did WWII have on Europe?  1939-1945 During WW2 and Nazism in Germany, Hitler and Nazis killed millions of people (mostly Jewish people). The Nazis thought the Jewish people were the reason for the problems in Germany and the Nazis including Hitler were superior and everyone else was inferior. Millions of people were killed in concentration camps in gas chambers, execution. WW2 was taking place because Germany wanted control of Europe and first attacked Poland. Germany is fighting against other countries in Europe. France, United Kingdom and USA fought Germany and Japan. Germany was defeated and WW2 and the Holocaust ended.

As result of the cold war, how was Germany and the Soviet Union effected? Countries threaten each other with the use of nuclear weapons. Soviet Union(Russia, Poland, Ukraine, East Germany) took part of Germany and they separated Germany in 1948 and the Soviet Union built the Berlin Wall. The Soviet Union became more powerful so their goal was to be more powerful than the USA and hopefully spread communism. Soviet Union was threatening USA with nuclear weapons (COLD WAR). Both countries prepared for nuclear by building nuclear weapons and a strong military. Joseph Stalin was the leader of the Soviet Union. Soviet Union broke up into different countries in about 1985 because of financial and government problems. Berlin Wall was destroyed 1989.
