Anxiety Anxiety is a feeling of unease, such as worry or fear, that can be mild or severe. Everyone has feelings of anxiety at some point in their life – for example, you may feel worried and anxious about

What makes you feel anxious? Your new teacher The news You’ve been told off Coming back to school Because something has happened at home Someone was rude to you on the bus

Sometimes we don’t know what we’re anxious about

How does anxiety make us feel?

What can adults do to help me? 1. Ask me how the anxiety feels Colour Shape Smooth spikey Draw it

What can adults do to help us? People, get anxious for different reasons and it feels different for everyone. Now I understand, thank you for telling. I understand how that must be difficult for you . I didn’t know it was like that for you, thanks for explaining . 2. Empathise with me

What can adults do to help us? Write down your worries. See if they happen every day, sometimes or never. My teacher gets a annoyed with me. I don’t like the pasta for lunch. A child was mean to me once. I forgot my homework. My mum’s going out tonight and I’ll miss her I’m late for school I can’t sleep. My mum might forget me after school.

Adult can help me see how likely the anxieties are to happen Adult can help me see how likely the anxieties are to happen. For example: Often (we need to work on these straight away) Sometimes (we need to work on these when they worry you) Never (it is very unlikely that this will happen) I’m late for school. My teacher tells me off. My mum might forget me after school. I forgot my homework. I don’t like the pasta for lunch. I can’t sleep. My mum’s going out tonight and I’ll miss her. A child is mean to me almost every day. My mum might not take me Mc Donald's tonight. The news. A child is mean to me once.

What can adults do to help me? They can help me to work out ways to manage my anxiety. Can you think of some things that help you when you are anxious?
