History Mumbai was founded in 250 b.C, and it is a very old city. Its origin was the junction of 7 islands. It was governed by successive Indian empires, and its population was mainly fishermen before the English arrival there. Sydney “was found” in 1770 by capitan John Cook. It started to be a penal colony for the British condemns. It’s Australia’s oldest city and it has one of the world’s best port. In 1890 it had 220.000 habitants and today it has about 4 million.
Curiosities Sydney is the financial and comercial centre of Australia. It is one of the main touristic cities of the world since 2000. Last year it recieved more than 2.8 million tourists. It is a very safe city with a very low criminality rate. In the Summer of 2000 the city was the headquarter of the Olympic Games. Mumbai is the biggest city of India and the one who most contributes to the wealth of the country. On the other hand half of the population lives in shanty town. It has one of the world’s most important harbours and includes 70% of the country’s sea commercial activity. That’s where the famous TV and cinema studios are - Bollywood Mumbai is known as the India’s Gate.
