Why Measure

Two Main Systems of Measurement Used International System of Units- (SI) Metrics (units of 10) Meter, Gram, Kilogram, liter US Customary or Standard System Inch, mile, yard, foot, pound, gallon, pint

METRIC SYSTEM (SI) Based on units of 10 Each unit is 10X bigger or smaller than the next unit. Uses meter, gram, liter.

Prefix (before base unit) King – (Kilo) Means Thousand or 1000X Henry- (Hecto) hundred or 100X Doesn’t (Deca) ten or 10X Usually Means base unit or 1X Drink (Deci) Tenth or 0.1X or 1/10 Chocolate (centi)hundredth or 0.01 or 1/100 Milk (milli) Thousandth or 0.001 or 1/1000
