NEED & SCOPE

Cerebral Palsy Cerebral Palsy is a neurological condition that affects movement and coordination There is no cure There are treatments for pain, and ambulatory devices that aim to increase a patient’s independence

Goal To design an integrated wheelchair/walker/cane system for a 12-year-old that is easily transported, intuitive, and functional.

Design Requirements Weight Capability >90 kg Lightweight < 30 kg Portability Collapsible and compact Intuitive to Convert Easily to convert between devices Functionality Must function equally well as a walker, wheelchair, and cane Comfort Can be used for long periods of time Safety Consider tipping forward and sideways Cost < $3000 for entire system

CONCLUSIONS

SPECIFICATIONS MET Weight Capability >90 kg ✅ Product Weight Portability Collapsible and compact Intuitive to Convert Easy to convert between devices Functional Must function equally well as a walker, wheelchair, and cane Comfort Can be used for long periods of time Safety Consider tipping forward and sideways Cost < $3000 for entire system

FUTURE DIRECTIONS Ensure the system is fully collapsible Make the system adjustable to fit a growing child Add a storage bag to the wheelchair
