Patience – Waiting on the Lord Theme Verse “Trust in the Lord with all your heart   and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him,   and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3: 5-6

Patience – Waiting on the Lord “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 (NIV) We have a loving heavenly Father who works all things for our good!

“The Love and Sovereignty of God” Patience – Waiting on the Lord “The Love and Sovereignty of God” God is a loving and perfect Father who know what is best for us God is able to control all things, and He always does, and without exception. Nothing happens without His direction or permission.

Forgiveness – Lifted by the Lord “My brothers and sisters, you will face all kinds of trouble. When you do, think of it as pure joy.  Your faith will be tested. You know that when this happens it will produce in you the strength to continue. “ James 1:2-3 Today we will learn how God raised Joseph up to save millions of people including his own family that would one day be the family Jesus would be born into. (Genesis 41-45)

Forgiveness – Lifted by the Lord Forgiveness is hard and only possible through the power of God. God used the circumstances in Joseph’s life to grow his faith and trust and teach him to forgive his brothers. God will use the circumstances in your life to grow your faith and trust. As you grow in faith and trust, God shapes your character.

Forgiveness – Lifted by the Lord “Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not want what belongs to others. It does not brag. It is not proud.  It does not dishonor other people. It does not look out for its own interests. It does not easily become angry. It does not keep track of other people’s wrongs.  Love is not happy with evil. But it is full of joy when the truth is spoken. It always protects. It always trusts. It always hopes. It never gives up. “ 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 (NIRV)

Pharaoh appoints Joseph as his second in command

Joseph is in charge of storing up food during the seven years of plenty

After the 7 years of plenty, came the 7 years of famine

Joseph opened the storehouses and sold grain to the Egyptians

The famine was severe everywhere and all the countries came to Egypt to buy grain

Jacob learns there is grain in Egypt and sends his sons to buy grain

Jacob did not send Benjamin, Joseph’s brother,

Joseph’s brothers arrived and bowed down to him because he was governor

Remember Joseph’s dream. He told his brothers they would bow to him.

Joseph pretended to be a stranger and spoke harshly to them Joseph pretended to be a stranger and spoke harshly to them. “You are spies!”

Joseph’s brothers told him their youngest brother was home with their father

Joseph told his brothers they would be tested Joseph told his brothers they would be tested. They must send one of them home to get their youngest brother. He put them all in custody for 3 days.

Joseph looked away and wept.

Joseph kept Simeon in prison and sent the rest back home with grain for their starving households and to bring the younger brother back.

Joseph had their bags filled with grain and their silver placed in their sacks

They loaded their grain and left

When they stopped for the night, one of them found their silver in their sacks and they were afraid, “What is this that God has done to us.”

Joseph’s brothers return home and explain everything that happened to Jacob.

Jacob refused to allow Benjamin to go to Egypt

The famine continues and they are again running out of food. Jacob tells his sons to return to Egypt.

Judah said to Jacob, “Send the boy with me and we will go at once so our families will not die.”

They headed off to Egypt, taking Benjamin with them

They arrived in Egypt and Joseph saw Benjamin with them. He made arrangements to eat with them.

They were afraid because of the silver they found in their sacks

The Manager said, “Don’t be Afraid. Your God must have put the treasure in your sacks.”

They released Simeon from prison to join them

Joseph arrives and they gave him gifts Joseph arrives and they gave him gifts. Joseph asked about his father Jacob.

Joseph looked at Benjamin and asked, “Is this your youngest brother?”

Joseph was overcome with emotion and rushed away

Joseph ordered that food be brought out Joseph ordered that food be brought out. Benjamin was given five times as much as his brothers.

Joseph instructs the palace manager, ‘Fill their sacks with grain and put their money back in their sacks and put my personal cup at the top of the youngest brother’s sack.

The next day they started their journey home

They had barely left the city and Joseph ordered the manager to stop them.

He stopped them and inspected the sacks and found the cup. They were all taken back to Joseph.

Joseph asked them, “ What have you done Joseph asked them, “ What have you done?” Judah pleaded, “God is punishing us for our sins. We have all returned to be your slaves.”

Joseph replied, “The man who stole my cup (Benjamin) will be my slave. The rest of you may go back to your father in peace.”

Judah pleaded with Joseph. He asked to stay as Joseph’s slave in place of Benjamin.

Joseph could stand it no more. He sent his attendants away Joseph could stand it no more. He sent his attendants away. Then he told them, “I am Joseph! Is my father alive?” His brothers were stunned.

Joseph said, “ I am your brother whom you sold into slavery Joseph said, “ I am your brother whom you sold into slavery. Don’t be angry with yourselves. It was God who sent me to save your lives.” Joseph kissed his brothers and sent them to bring his father.
