PROFESSION OF SCHOOL COUNSELING When did community counseling become a major force in mental health practice? What were the major causes of growth to community counseling over the 20th century?

WORKING IN THE COMMUNITY Community mental health counselors provide: Individual Counseling Assessment Diagnosis Crisis Counseling Referrals Peer Facilitation

COMMUNITY-BASED COUNSELING What is a treatment plan? How do counselors working in community settings come up with treatment plans for clients? How does a treatment plan predict a treatment outcome? 5

IN-CLASS ACTIVITY You are a community mental health counselor working in a mental health agency. What are common complaints that you might have from clients in the community?
