YEAR 7 FOUNDER’S ASSEMBLY SIR HARRY DJANOGLY

Sir Harry Djanogly, CBE Sir Harry Djanogly, CBE is our Founder. Sir Harry is a British textile manufacturer and, with his family, they made their home in Nottingham. Sir Harry has a keen interest in education and, in particular in respect of the young people of Nottingham. As well as sponsoring the Djanogly Learning Trust, he has also supported both the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University. In 1983 Sir Harry was awarded Commander of the British Empire and in 1993 he was invested as Knight Batchelor.

Sir Harry’s connections with establishments such as Tate Britain, the V&A Museum, The Royal Academy, National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery have allowed his contributions to have a direct and noticeable positive effect on the availability and accessibility to arts.

In Nottingham Sir Harry has supported development of Nottingham Lakeside Arts which was established by The University of Nottingham in September 2001, when the Pavilion housing the newly built Djanogly Theatre first opened, adding to the University’s pre-existing arts buildings of the Djanogly Gallery and Djanogly Recital Hall. 

Sir Harry’s generosity extends beyond art to include contributions towards and involvement in education, health and theatre . The Djanogly Studio at the Royal Ballet School in London for example, is named after him following a generous donation to the School.

Aspirations For me, I’m focussed on what I want to do. I know what I need to do to be a champion, so I’m working on it.

What is aspiration? A strong desire, longing, aim or ambition to achieve something such as success. A will to succeed.

What aspiration did these people have? Bullied at school for being small In 2008 broke ankle and couldn’t compete in Beijing Olympic Games. Overcame this, rebuild her career and won Olympic championship gold at the London 2012 games in the heptathlon Wanted every American person to have equal rights and opportunities.

Year 7 Award for most impact at transition Ria Zafar Ria produced some fantastic extended learning tasks over the summer holidays. She has taken ownership of her own learning and has already become an outstanding student at DCA .

Year 7 Award for most impact at transition Zainab Jabbar Zainab produced some fantastic learning tasks over the summer holidays. The work was completed to an outstanding level and it showed that Zainab has an excellent l work ethic in school and in her own time.

Year 7 Award for most impact at transition Shannon Rennie Shannon was a little star on transition day and showed an outstanding work ethic. She was confident and wanted to be involved in everything Djanogly had to offer. Keep up the great start.

Year 7 Award student from a feeder primary Sofea Shahrizal Sofea has made an excellent start at the academy and is a exemplary student. Sofea is polite, enthusiastic and passionate about learning and reaching her full potential.

Year 7 Award student from a feeder primary Aaqib Javed Aaqib is a great asset to the academy. His enthusiasm In lessons is infectious and he is a real pleasure to teach.

Year 7 Award student from a feeder primary Sirus Mundar Sirus has been an absolute star in his lessons so far, particularly in Geography. He has an excellent command of vocabulary.

TUTOR 1 AWARD : Deniz Kaynak Deniz is extremely polite and has no negative events or behaviour stamps this half term. Not only is he determined to succeed but he has a great attitude to learning.

TUTOR 2 AWARD : Jonathon Gyami After a difficult start to Djanogly, Jonathon has overcome the struggle with English not being his first language. Jonathon always has the biggest smile on his face and is determined to get better each day.

TUTOR 3 AWARD : Madison Brown Maddie has made huge progressed and is very different from the quiet girl on transition day. Not only has she started to come out of her shell but she is starting to independently work. Well done Maddie.

TUTOR 4 AWARD : Uzhmaa Ayub Uzhmaa has a mature outlook on life and her studies at Djanogly. Uzhmaa is a fantastic team player and role model in tutor time. As a result of this she is taking an active role in the student council

TUTOR 5 AWARD : Hussnain Ali Hussnain really does go above and beyond in tutor time and lessons. He is getting involved in all aspects of Djanogly life and can be seen regularly at extra-curricular events
