Social Work/Counselor Capstone. By:CT

In my letter of intent I state that I wanted to be a Social Worker/ Counselor. I would like to work with kids and help them with their problems even if it varies from cps work to dhs work or anything to do with people or kids. My teacher and my counselor have told me some of the things they have done in the past to get where they are today. This project also helped me gain confidence to be able to interview people and ask more questions about things. Plagiarism is a big thing in all school s its not a good thing plagiarism is where someone takes someone else's words and writes it down or types it and doesn’t try to put it into their own words or even give that other person credits on the writing or picture.

Articles I choose two articles about the job I want to do social work/counselor. These articles told me the best thing to do was to get the highest degree I could get an then become a social worker and or counselor and told what I need from the state to get a licsens

Article Summary In my article summary that I had written I had wrote that although there is a significant degree of overlap between social science and sociology science, the focus of these degrees is different form one another.

Capstone Essays I did two capstone essays to tell how my past has prepared me and inspired me to go into this job field and to think about the future of how this job could turn out later on in life for me. Such as when I have dealt with the government system since I could remember. This has thought me some things in life that have made me think that I want to be this person I want to be a social worker/counselor for the state or for a school.

College It takes about 4 years for a bachelors of social work and about another calendar year for master of social work, advanced standing program and certification in schools.

Degrees To be a social worker/counselor there are many degrees and certifications you need to be able to do this job like a bachelors' is a minimum masters for most and addition certifications for many.

Internships For a bachelor's degree you need to do at least 4 hours a week junior year (or more) and masters at least two days a week it can be hard finding a internship job at places since you wouldn’t have any experience yet.

General Information It can be hard finding jobs with this kind of job. It is always good to have connections with other people that work in that field to be able to get into a job at times. You always need to try to be flexible for jobs if possible, depending on the job I would like to go into It would depend on the degrees I would need to go into that field.

In order to do this job you need a lot of patience to handle some of the people you could deal with everyday. Each person is different, long with their situations at times you just need to let that person to vent about what they are upset about.

Years Salary's. A social worker/counselor can make up to 20,000-150,000 or more depending on their education and experience. The general yearly salary for a social woker/counselor is 30-40,000 a year.

Job Shadowing As I job shadowed I watched Nicole Wilbur do her job with helping kids at Riverside Academy. She did things from helping families with holidays, school events, and possible jobs etc. I believe Nicole is a great social worker/counselor she has more patience then anyone I know even my self.

Nicole does every thing from doing students school scheduling and more. Even though I would like to try and do cps work(child protective services) I would still like to try to do Nicole's job. I think I could really help some people.
