Introduction Liberal Studies aims to broaden our knowledge base and enhance our social awareness through the study of a wide range of issues which closely related to our daily lives. The modules selected for the curriculum focus on themes of significance to students, society and the world, designed to enable us to make connections across different fields of knowledge and to broaden our horizons. Of the six modules, the modules on Society, Science and Technology are the most challenging and interesting. They are pervasive, indispensable and would undergo remarkable changes from day to day. The learning experiences in these modules would definitely foster our capacity for life-long learning, so that we can face the challenges of the future with ease and confidence.

What is this module about? the relationships between scientific and technological innovations and society, and the directions and risks of science and technology. the study of how social, political, and cultural values affect scientific research and technological innovation and how science and technology affect society politics and culture Introduction to the History of Pre-Modern Science To provide the students with the basic knowledge of the history of science in the pre-modern area Technology and Society to illustrate that the history of technology cannot be explained by history of progress and discuss the problems, doubts, issues Frontiers in Science and Technology deals several new research and development in science and technology since the last decades of the 20th century. Science, Technology, and Society draws on popular issues in everyday life to elaborate the social implications of science and technology.

What is the purpose of studying this module? Nowadays, the power and influence of science and technology is so great that everyone is using electronic products, such as iPhone 4 , iTouch , computers and mobile phones. In order to understand our society more, it is essential to study about the relationship between technology and our society. Thus, we can make better contributions attempts to increase human understanding of the human-built world. to look at the human-built world as an integrated whole. Now, let us watch a video about science and technology: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dg0dQZSFt94 Through understanding the impact of science, technology on our society, we can learn to make good use of it but not use it to destroy or over-relying on it.

How can we study this module more efficiently? Different from studying other academic subjects which require memory, the effective and efficient method to study Liberal Studies in particular the modules on Society, Science and Technology is as follows: We should develop the capacity to construct knowledge through enquiring into contemporary issues which affect ourselves and the world around us, We should identify the values underlying different views and judgments, and apply critical thinking skills, creativity and different perspectives in making judgments on issues and problems.

How can we apply our learning of this module to our daily lives?

Conclusion In this curriculum, we learnt about The influences of energy technology The relationship between science, technology and society. We should use the power of science and technology wisely For example: Global warming, pollution, scarce of resources are worsening everyday, we learn from the past poor planning, development, and apply the protection, conservation measures to create a better and sustainable future and people’s quality of living would be enhanced. We learn to use nuclear power more carefully and wisely from the disaster in Japan on 11th March.2011. A small step on moon is a big leap on earth, similarly, if everyone learns the influences of science and technology on us and use them wisely, a bright and comfortable earth will come out, and both material and non-material life would improve but not destroying the environment.
