You are now looking at a spread from Reality Central. The first thing you’ve probably noticed is the vibrant, friendly design. It’s engaging and modern without being distracting. I’d also like to point out another feature of this book: All the articles in this reader are in single-column format for easier readability. Each reading begins with a “Kick It Off” page that introduces the article students are about to read to one of the readings in Reality Central. Real-Life Connections encourage student to think about the article topic and get them ready to read. Check it Out provides resources for more information if students need more background. And vocabulary important to the article is frontloaded in the Word Bank. The Big Question is introduced before each article and placed in context with its content. At the end of the article, students are encouraged to use what they have read as they revisit the Big Question. We’ll see more of this idea in the Prentice Hall Literature student edition later in this presentation.
