LIST OF ACTIVITIES OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS Fire Management Study Tours Purpose is to exchange information between countries on fire problems, and methods to find solutions. Usually results in recommendations and considerations for improvement from both visitors and hosts. Formal study tours started in 1968 when North America hosted a tour delegation from 23 countries Every 4 years, NAFC-FMWG hosts an Australia/New Zealand study tour delegation; Australia/New Zealand provides the same, so that the host location alternates every 2 years North America study tour of Australia and New Zealand was held from April 26 – May 20, 2014 with 11 members participating from all three countries

LIST OF ACTIVITIES OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS The International Wildland Fire Conference Series NAFC-FMWG is a major supporter of the IWFC’s, in cooperation with FAO and United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UN-ISDR) Has become the major international conference on fire management, S&T applications, and wildland fire policy 5 previous conferences: Boston 1989, Vancouver 1996, Sydney 2003, Seville 2007 and Sun City (Pilanesberg) South Africa 2011 NAFC-FMWG is strongly represented on the International Liaison Committee, assisting to plan the next conference in Pyeongchang, South Korea October 12-16, 2015

WORKING GROUP BUDGET OR REQUEST FOR FUNDING The FMWG continues to look for opportunities to build closer ties with our colleagues in Central and South America to promote increased communication, collaboration and promotion of the UN/FAO Fire Management: Voluntary Guidelines, and new (draft) Voluntary Guidelines for Fire Aviation. The FMWG requests funding to pay for travel of one participant from Latin American and Caribbean Forestry Commission (LACFC) to attend the annual FMWG meeting to foster interaction and collaboration between the working groups for a five-year period.
