Responsibilities of Muslim Ummah Juwairia Abrar

Introduction Islam is the complete code of life, Its teachings covers each and every aspect of life. Economics, Politics, Social, and spiritual teachings (Ahkaam) are given to implement it in public and private life.

Quran divides all human beings in two parts, believer (the followers of the right path) and non-believers (who are on the wrong path).

Meaning of the word ‘Ummah’ Global brotherhood. (Hizb, or Jama’ah). The word commonly used to mean the collective community of Islamic peoples. It is Quranic terminology so in Quran typically refers to a single group that shares a common religious beliefs. The phrase Ummat ul Wahidah (one nation) in the Quran refers to all the Islamic world as it existed at the time.

Do this Ummah Exist Today? Do we take Allah as our “Rab”, Malik, protector, support-Nourisher, Ultimate power? Do we take Khatamun Nabiyeen as our Role model? Do we take Quran and Sunnah regulations and commands as obligatory? DO we rise above the difference of colour race ethnicity nationality, language, wealth, tribes and interest groups?

Contemporary challenges and Responsibilities of Muslim Ummah The right knowledge of Deen and spreading it: General need of the time is Islamic way education system to introduce the real terminology and teaching of the right knowledge of Deen and its importance in daily life. Muslim must leave linguistic and regional nationalism behind and become one body if any part of the body feels pain the entire body should feel it and find the cure of it.

UNITY AND ACT AS SINGLE BODY: Quranic injunctions and the Prophetic teachings require that the Muslim Ummah should act as a single body. The geographical barriers should not divide them into different nations with conflicting objectives. All the Muslim countries must have a united face at least with reference to the common objectives of the Muslim Ummah vis-a-vis the rest of the world.

Contemporary challenges and Responsibilities of Muslim Ummah (5) Modernization without Westernization: All the challenges confronting the contemporary Muslim world, the greatest appears to be that of modernity. Muslims who consider themselves the caretakers of "the Islamic way of life” are aware of the fact that viability in the modern technological age requires the adoption of the scientific outlook, which inevitably brings about major changes in modes of thinking and behavior. “Modernization”- is largely identified with science, technology and a better standard of life; "westernization" referred as-is largely identified with mass western culture and moral degeneration and disintegration.

Contemporary challenges and Responsibilities of Muslim Ummah 11- In ecomonomic field Elimination of poverty through system of Zakat and Sadaqat etc. Introducing Riba Free financial system. Implementing different systems introduced earlier by Rasullulah (SAWW) and Khulafa- e-Rashideen(RA). Like Old age benefits, Benefits for marrying couples, and born babies, and Also creating opportunities to solve unemployment problem.
