frost theater building University of Miami school of drama & Dance Theater Conference room design Donnie garcia-navarro Arc 363 – spring 2016

Concept/goals The main purpose/goal of this conference room lighting design was to achieve the correct and most comfortable luminance in the room so that the employees using this space could have visual comfort while they conduct meetings with clients, employees, students, and professors of the new University of Miami Theater Building. The recommended category chosen for this room was Category F “Performance of visual tasks or low contrast or very small size”. Since this conference room was to be used in a Theater Building for the University of Miami, the room will be used for daily activities such as board meetings, planning, stage director and actor meetings, office employees, and department meetings of the university. These daily activities include writing on papers, reading, presenting boards and models, as well as reviewing plans and presentations of the plays for the theater. The foot-candle result was 150 from the 100-150-200 range.

Calc zone Light 1 LyteCaster LED Downlight LED 700 Lumens Color Temp 4000k

Calc zone light 2 Philips Flux Steam Led Strip LED 2000 Lumens Color Temp 4000k

Calc zone light 3 Jump Suspended LED LED 2400 Lumens Color Temp 4000k Based off the calc zone results for all three lighting fixtures. The total luminance in foot candle provided for the space is 82 fc. This satisfies the suggested illuminance for the Category E Activity’s 75 fc.
